A Year in the Fulbright Life: Vanessa’s Story

This year, I started classes AND got my master’s degree for my birthday! It felt amazing. In a way, this is one of the best gifts that I have ever received. This month I attended multiple orientations and got to meet some friends and faculty in the department, and even the mascot, Bucky

I recently traveled to Minneapolis! I got to visit the Mall of America, and I was able to explore the twin cities during the day and night. I explored the stone bridge and walked around the industrial area. The second day I visited Northfield, and I attended a play representing the story of the First National Bank. What a lovely, tiny town. The third day, I attended a wedding that I got invited to in Peppins. I got to experience an American wedding, and I met lovely new people. It was a remarkable weekend in Minnesota. On one field trip with my university, we visited the city of Madison, where we met with the team at the planning division to discuss projects for Madison.

Vanessa is a 2022 Fulbrighter from Lebanon. She studies Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
