A Year in the Fulbright Life: Tareq’s Story
For the next year, Fulbright MENA will be showcasing a handful of students as they study in the United States with their new series, A Year in the Fulbright Life. Each month, spotlighted students will share an update as they continue on their Fulbright journey.
October 2021
This month I explored more of Pittsburgh’s cultural scene and visited the Andy Warhol Museum. I quite enjoyed the fall and seeing the leaves change color. I spent much of my time at my favorite reading spot, the Mary Schenley Memorial Fountain.
December 2021
During the winter break, I took time to explore Washington D.C. and enjoy its rich history. Afterwards, I stopped by the Philadelphia Museum of Art to visit the iconic “Rocky Steps.” It was an enjoyable trip that gave me the chance to recharge before the start of the spring semester.
January 2022
In January, I experienced my first winter storm. The snow gave me the chance to pay more attention to parts of the city I haven’t paid much attention to before.
March 2022
In March, I had the chance to visit New York City, where I visited friends and many global landmarks that I have only ever seen in movies. My favorite moment during the trip was seeing Vincent Van Gogh’s Starry Night at the Museum of Modern Art.
Tareq is a 2021 Fulbright student from United Arab Emirates. He is studying Public Administration at the University of Pittsburgh.
