A Year in the Fulbright Life: Lamiaa’s Story
For the next year, Fulbright MENA will be showcasing a handful of students as they study in the United States with their new series, A Year in the Fulbright Life. Each month, spotlighted students will share an update as they continue on their Fulbright journey.
August 2021
As much as I love to travel for fun, over the years I have also enjoyed traveling for my studies or for attending an educational workshop. Since participating in the Fulbright Program is my third and longest exchange to date, I knew I would be faced with new surprises and challenges along the way.
I have been preparing for Fulbright for over a year now and am ready to embark on my journey. There are people that I will miss seeing every day or every weekend, but my dream has finally come true, and it’s time to live it! I most certainly owe so much of where I am now to my family and dear friends that have been with me every step of the way. With their support, I am prepared to face anything this year.
Lamiaa is a first-year Fulbright student from Egypt. She is studying Anthropology at the University of Hawaii-Manoa.
