For the next year, Fulbright MENA will be showcasing a handful of students as they study in the United States with their new series, A Year in the Fulbright Life. Each month, spotlighted students will share an update as they continue on their Fulbright journey.

February 2021:

The first photo shows me standing between two banners and was captured in the Wall of Discovery at the University of Minnesota. This is an amazing place where real, handwritten notes are put on the wall, such as an article on the first successful bone transplant, sketches and drawings of the University of Minnesota faculty and alumni, and several quotes from great thinkers. I feel inspired every time I go there and look at those great scholars.

This second photo, with a lighthouse behind me , was captured in Canal Park in Duluth, MN. I was visiting the largest lake, “Lake Superior,” of the Great Lakes of North America. Snow was everywhere, and the lake looked amazing, especially when ships were passing through it.

The last two photos where I was grabbing a coffee were captured in Wayzata in Minnesota, a beautiful place. It was a nice experience. Drinking a hot coffee in this cold weather when the snow covered everything around me was an amazing feeling.

April 2022

In April, I had the chance to enjoy nature by Loon Lake in northern Minnesota. My friends and I had a great experience camping in a wood cabin right on the lake.

Abdelrahman is a 2020 Fulbright student from Egypt. He studied Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology at the University of Minnesota.
